It's Okay, That's Love

Hii, how’s your holiday? Do you enjoy it? I know your answer already, because everyone should have a great holiday, even if you just stay at home and do nothing. Do nothing here doesn’t mean you just spend your whole day without any activities you wanna do and you just think that sleep is the best solution you’ve to take. To me, do nothing is when you’ve finished helping your mother, and you still wanna do something but your mother just said, “Thank you for helping dear, I think it is enough for today.” Then, you finally went to living room, and you didn’t know what would you do next. THAT’s IT! That’s what I call do nothing. (what kind of explanation is it? -___-

Then, what did you do in your holiday, Na?

Hmm, this holiday is just the same, it isn’t different from any holidays i’ve spent before, but every holiday always has its own story, rite? About two weeks ago, my lovely twinny gave me a korean drama, the title was “It’s Okay, that’s love”. To tell you the truth, my closest friend has told me about this drama since five months ago, but yeahh you know, i don’t have any intention of watching a drama unless i got all of the episodes already, without waiting in a week. Summary, i really enjoy watching a drama, but I don’t enjoy waiting the next episode, I hate “to be continue” message in the end of episode.

Now i’m gonna write what i’ve got from watching this drama without putting in any spoilers.

It’s okay that’s love is a medical/psychologycal, romantic drama, and to me…this drama is more than a romantic drama because you’ll also find a new thing, especially what psychiatrist usually do when they’re in the hospital. For sure, i recommend this drama to all of you, who really wanna be a psychiatrist and get interested in psycholoycal world.

This drama stars Gong Hyo Jin as Ji Hae Soo (psychiatrist), Jo In Sung as Jang Jae Yeol (a mysterious famous novel writer and radio DJ), Do Kyungsoo as Han Kang Woo (inspiring novel writer wannabe),  Lee Kwang Soo as Park Soo Kwang (Tourette’s sufferer) and Sung Dong Il as Jo Dong Min (Professional Psyciatrist). This all sounds simple but everyone in this drama has their own problem/illness that they must overcome.

Jae Yeol, he is handsome, rich, famous, playful, and a bit arrogant. But who knows, he is the one who suffers the most in this drama, he has OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) and terrible memories of his past. That’s why, if you’ve watched this drama, you’ll see that Jae Yeol only can sleep in his own bathtub. While, Hae Soo, she has a panic disorder when it comes to physical intimacy/commitment and sex.

Summary, Jae Yeol has personal interest in Hae Soo since they were invited togeteher as a guest on Talk Show. Then, they get closer after Jae Yeol decides to leave his apartement and moves into a new house where Hae Soo also lives in there. Yesss, he finds out that Hae Soo lives in a house that he actually owns (FYI, Jae Yeol is RICH, hahaha :D) He sees an opportunity and tries to make his move on Hae Soo after she has broken up with her boyfriend. She finally finds out about her boysfriend’s cheating ways, and yeahh that’s really hurt for Hae Soo.

It works! Hae Soo falls in love with Jae Yeol, and their relathionship seems to go well. Jae yeol even has no doubt to tell Hae Soo about his terribled past and the reason why he can’t sleep in bed. Unlike anyone he’s dated before, Hae soo is different and totally his type, she knows how to treat workaholics-man, especially Jae Yeol. But, every relationship always has its unique challenges. They begin to know each other and find there’re many surprised things they have to face.

Jae Yeol meets Kang Woo, he is a kid who faces the same problem that Jae yeol faced when he was young, they both have a killer-type father that always beats his mother and him. The real problem is Kang Woo doesn’t actually exist! He is just a hallucination, made by Jae yeol. Apparently, it is caused by Jae Yeol’s pain in the past, he suffers more than we initially thought, and now he has to suffer from Schizophrenia. Their relationship is tested when they learn that Jae yeol’s mental health is more serious than they suspected.

So, this drama focuses on how the main characters face their illness/problem and it tells us that most of people in this world are suffering from something, no matter how perfect they are. They may look so happy, they may have everything they want, but you never really know who they are, especially their life. This drama also shows us if we can help each other, we can conquer our problems and live in peace. Just like Jae Yeol and Hae Soo, they both have their own illness, but they support and help each other so that their illness could be cured.

As I’ve said before, I’m not gonna tell you the whole stories and I don’t have any intention of putting in any spoilers here. I just wanna say that I like this drama so much, watching this drama isn’t a waste of time for me and again, i’m totally amazed with the plot. They succesfully make us get into the story and sympathize with the characters and their struggles. I wonder why Korean people always have a great idea in making drama, they can combine romance with science, fantasy and knowledge very well. The result is also awesome and not ALAY, to me.

This drama is also dominated by romance scenes and things we called love, I admit it. But, that’s what I like the most from korean drama, there’re some mysterious messages we could find in every action they’ve made or just what they’ve said to each other in a conversation. Again, it doesn’t look ALAY for me.

These are the most touching, mind blowing quotes & narration from Its Okay, that’s love drama.

“The person that you must understand… is yourself” – Ji Hye Soo

That’s right, the person that you must understand is yourself. Okay, i’m not gonna talk about anyone else, I’m just gonna do self-correction through introspection here and do a flashback about what I’ve done these days. For sure, understanding yourself isn’t easy enough, it depends on how long you’ve been realizing about the importance of loving yourself and what will you do with yourself. I admit it, I got some troubles back then when I wanted to try understanding myself and to tell you the truth, I’m still working in understanding myself better right now.

Then, why is it so hard to understand yourself?

It’s not hard actually, it just looks really hard when you still compare yourself to others and blame yourself for what you’ve done in your life. You may say that you love yourself, even your weakness and your bad habit, but there will come a time when you feel like you have to suffer more than anyone else. Then, you’ll think that it’s better to be ‘that person’, rather than being yourself. I know how it feels, because I’ve experienced that feelings before and I finally realize that God is working hard behind the scenes of my life.

Summary, you’ll understand yourself when you sincerely believe in yourself that you’re special, you’re beautiful in your own way and think that loving yourself is the most important thing you’ve to do. You’ll understand yourself if you stop comparing yourself to other, stop thinking that their life is better than yours and stop dreaming about being someone else. Now, you have to know yourself better, about what you like and what you want in life. You really can’t achieve much in life unless you know and understand yourself first.

“People have to know the bitter and sweet things in life to become mature” – Jang Jae Yeol

Maturity doesn’t always come with age. Age is just a number of how many years we’ve been living in this world and it has little to do with maturity when we talk about age. I personally agree with that quote, you’ll become more mature if you’ve experienced the bitter and sweet things in your life, because maturity is learned through experiences. In psychology, maturity is the ability to respond to the environment in an appropriate manner. This response is generally learned rather than instinctive (source: Wikipedia).

Summary, the more you experience many situations, many problems and many emotions in your life, the more you have a chance to become more mature.

“The thing that dominates us in the end is the usual habits that we are used to doing everyday.” – Ji Hae Soo

I believe, you will surely know what that quote means, because we all are familiar with the definition of habit.

“For those of you who are lonely because you’re alone, there is someone who is praying for you 24 hours a day. Remember that. You are not alone, not even for a second.” – Jang Jae Yeol

That's it! That's what i wanna write today, hopefully you'll enjoy reading my blog post and keep visiting my blog :) Have a nice holiday, everyone!!! Thank you :)

With love,
