The readiness of Indonesian Businesses is the key to face the threat of AEC

Hey, wassap? How’s your day? Still thinking about what will you do in this weekend? I hope you’ll enjoy your weekend, your weekday too of course :) However, don’t be so sad if you don’t have any spare time this week, don’t ever think that your happiness depends on how much spare time do you actually have. Happiness is made, you all have responsibility to make your own happiness! Anyway, “Don’t forget to be happy today!!! Lets smile!!!” :)

Okay, to tell you the truth, I’m really busy these days because of the mid-test, assignments, and another activities I couldn’t explain all of them here. I feel so tired of course, but this is the consequence of the decision I’ve made and I’m happy to know that I’m not the only one who stay busy in weekend. See!!! You’re not alone guysss!!! Sometimes, you have to thank God for giving you such a wonderful weekend. He loves you so that He gives you so much time to be spent with your assignment and your organization activities :)

Well, I got an assignment in Business English class last week. This assignment is about making an analytical exposition. The topics are about, (1) ASEAN Economic Community can threat many Indonesian businesses. Do you agree or disagree? and (2) As mass communication and transport continue to grow, societies are becoming more and more alike leading to a phenomenon known as globalization. Some people fear that globalization will inevitably lead to the total loss of cultural identity. To what extent, do you agree or disagree with that statement?. We have to choose one of them to be the topics we will talk about.

At the end of the class, our lecturer gave us the rule of our writing assignment. Yess, she didn’t allow us to write more than one page, we all had to write an analytical exposition in one page! If we wrote more than one page, we would get minus points no matter how excellent our analytical exposition was. Another rule was we had to write that assignment down in a paper and gave line spacing about 0,5-0,8 mm. Oh God! Do we have to write analytical exposition with that kind of rule? -___- Heuuu~

Summary, i’ve made up my mind and chose the first topic, about ASEAN Economic Community. I really gave all my heart to do this assignment, I even managed my mood so that my handwriting would come out nice and beautiful. Surprisingly, it was more than one page, I didn’t know how could it be and I just felt like my heart had been broken! I had to delete some words of course and I felt so bad for that, really :(

However, this is the real version of analytical exposition that I’ve made. I decide to post my assignment in this blog, because I really hope that I won’t feel so bad again :D Hahahaha

The readiness of Indonesian Businesses is the key to face the threat of AEC

Asean Economic Community (AEC) will come in just eight months from now. AEC is an economic program which has been agreed by ten countries in ASEAN, there are Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Philippine, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Vietnam. AEC opens widely the trade route to export and import products and services like professional workers or investment among all countries in ASEAN which give free tax too, it is just the same with AFTA (Asean Free Trade Area).

There is a reason that so many [Indonesian companies] feel that the Asean integration poses a threat to them. If they were fully prepared, it wouldn’t be a threat. We think that AEC will be the opportunities for our country which is still in a progress of stabilizing its economy sector. These are the benefit of AEC for Indonesian businesses.

First, AEC will indirectly give positive impacts for young entrepreneurs, as it will bring potentials and opportunities. When we see demographically, Indonesia is very appropriate as the center of production.  Therefore, there must be a thorough planning in welcoming the AEC so that Indonesia can compete with other countries.

Second, UMKM (Usaha Mikro Kecil dan Menengah) will be able to sell their products in Asean countries area. There will be free flow of goods, services, investment capital and skilled labor following the liberalization. These will include tariff reductions and streamlining of certain administrative procedures.

From the reasons above, we can conclude that the readiness of businesses Indonesian is the key to face the threat of AEC. The government must also improve the business environment and provide scholarship opportunities for its youth in order to develop the entrepreneurial skills of its local people.
